The next Zelda probably won’t be a sequel to Tears of the Kingdom

Do we feel done with this Hyrule now?

Fantastic The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was followed up by Tears of the Kingdom, and although the latter was also extremely well received, many are now hungry for something new from the series. And it actually looks like that will be the case.

In a interview in Gameinformer (spoiler alert for both games) the question is asked if they ruled out a direct sequel to Tears of the Kingdomproducer Eiji Aonuma replies that in that case it would be a sequel to a sequel, which would be a bit crazy.

Furthermore, he says that the goal with Tears of the Kingdom was to build on top of the world they created in Breath of the Wild and really maximize the possibilities of what you could do in that world – he thus considers the game to be a final form of this version of The Legend of Zelda and that he doesn’t think they will to make a direct sequel.
