The next generation Mitsubishi ASX will be available with petrol or hybrid drive, the carmaker writes in a press release. He also confirms that the car will run on the CMF-B platform, on which, for example, the new Renault Clio or Captur stand.

In the case of hybrids, the carmaker does not state the number of gears in the automatic transmission, but describes it as “multi-mode”. It is therefore probably the so-called multimode automatic transmission used by Renault.

It has both electric motors stored in it; one main, propulsive, and the other small, auxiliary. It serves mainly as a starter-generator and also to compare the gears of individual gears when they change.
–
There are two gears for the main electric motor and four for the internal combustion engine, with the fact that they partially overlap in the range of driving speeds. The qualities for the internal combustion engine are very long, so that hybrid renaults can drive with good consumption and at higher speeds. To reduce electricity consumption, there is also a second gear for the electric motor, which sometimes ranges around 60 km / h.
–
We can also consider that the ASX hybrid plug-in, like the Captur Plug-In, will have a multi-element rear axle for battery and fuel tank installation, while other versions will have a simpler crank axle.
–
But back to what we know for sure. The use of the CMF-B platform eliminates electric all-wheel drive, all movement will be provided by the front wheels. The car will be manufactured at Renault’s Valladollid plant in Spain.
–
“Customer requirements in the European small SUV segment are typically diverse, so it’s important that our product offering is just as diverse,” said Frank Krol, president of Mitsubishi’s European division.
–
The performance is scheduled for September this year and sales will start in spring 2023.
