The Lantern Festival will become Montalbanais. The organizers were looking for a new place, after the city of Blagnac, host in 2021, gave up organizing a second edition.
Third move for the Lantern Festival. After Gaillac the first three years, Blagnac in 2021, the next edition should take place in Montauban.
The news is not official but the information would have been confirmed by the mayor of the city Brigitte Barèges to our colleagues from France Blue Occitanie. The exact location where the festival will be held is not yet known. The date has not been communicated.
The details will be revealed next Thursday at the next Montauban Community Council.
In March 2022, Joseph Carles, the mayor of Blagnac, announced that he would give up a second edition, citing a deficit of 600,000 euros despite an attendance of more than 400,000 visitors.
After this choice, Patrice Gausserand, former mayor of Gaillac and president of MAG Conseil, which owns the rights to the festival, claimed to be in contact with other towns in the region ready to host the Lantern Festival for the 2022-2023 edition.
