The next God of War is postponed until 2022

In a question round on the PlayStation blog, PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst says that the next God of War game has been postponed until next year.

The message comes as a response to how the PlayStation studio has adapted and handled game development after the corona pandemic broke out in full. Hulst says that they have taken action, but that they will not risk easing the quality.

The upcoming Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War game – which currently has no stated title – are mentioned. Both games have encountered problems finding people to motion capture for the animations. Horizon Forbidden Dawn will hopefully come before the year is over anyway, but God of War must break.

– For God of War’s part, the project began a little later. So we have made a decision to postpone the game until next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver a strong God of War game that we all want to play, he says.

Little is known about the game

So far, we know very little about the next God of War game. When it became unveiled in the autumn of 2020 was it with a tight trailer, only with the hint that the end of the world – Ragnarok – is on its way. Then it was said that the game would come in 2021.

If nothing else, it indicates that the game is about Norse mythology, and that Kratos probably still wanders around northern parts of the world.

The latest God of War game – simply called God of War – came out in 2018, to very good reviews. We were no less than we gave the game 10 out of 10 points.

– God of War is not perfect, but you world for a masterful, adventurous, engaging, and powerful experience we have had. If you have had high hopes for this Norse story in Norwegian-inspired conditions led by the ghost from Sparta, just rejoice. God of War is back, stronger, deeper, and better than ever, our reviewer wrote then.
