“In the event of a vote of no confidence in the Central Committee by 50% +1 of its members in the president, an extraordinary congress is convened.
The announcement of the conference, the organization of the pre-conference process, the pre-conference texts and the measure of representation are the responsibilities of the Central Committee”.
This is provided for in article 20 (par. 4&5) of the SYRIZA Statute in the event (as happened today) that a motion of censure against the president is passed.
At the conference, the nominations will be approved, but there will also be a political discussion. It remains to be seen if new delegates will be elected, or if the delegates from the February conference will participate.
The conference, as the Central Committee was told, will NOT be able to challenge the censure.
The Political Secretariat is expected to meet immediately, where it will probably appoint a transitional president, while the Central Committee will convene again in two weeks, which will define the details of the Congress.
The Central Committee decided that Nikos Pappas will represent the party in the TIF.
