The board of the Central Party decided to restore the publication of the party’s newspaper Kesknädal. Anneli Ott, secretary general of the Central Party, said that three issues of Keskveti will be published this year, the first of which will be published on October 12, when the Central Party celebrates its 32nd birthday.
Midweek was previously published from August 1999 to June 2020. The last editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Indrek Veiserik, was laid off in 2019 due to the economic difficulties encountered by the party. From September of the same year, the newspaper, which was previously published every Wednesday, began to be published once a month. When the newspaper disappeared, its website was transformed into the news portal of the Central Party.
Anneli Ott stated about the decline of supporters of the Center Party that major changes in society always cause different reactions, the same pattern applies to the Center Party as well. “We are giving the voters in general and the members of the Central Party time to adapt to the new situation,” said Ott.
“There have been short-term rapid rises in politics before, often followed by an even greater fall. In the case of the Center Party, I consider it important to develop a well-thought-out action plan and achieve stability. Indeed, a hundred people have left the Center Party after the extraordinary congress,” said Ott. He added that several applications for joining are also in the process.
