The New York subway closed at night

From 1:00 am that night, the New York subway, the city that never sleeps, will take a nap to undergo in-depth disinfection.

This unprecedented measure, which aims to slow down the pandemic, must last four hours and will be repeated every night.

The 472 metro stations in the American economic capital will therefore be closed between 1 am and 5 am the next night to allow 500 employees to deep clean trains and stations.

The entire transit system will now be cleaned every 24 hours instead of every 72 hours.

Since the start of the confinement of the American metropolis on March 19, frequentation of the metro, usually used by some six million travelers per day, has fallen by 92%.
