The New York Stock Exchange opened sharply on Thursday, maintaining its momentum from the start of the week, while the United States hoped to know the name of its next president during the day.
Wall Street’s flagship index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), was up 1.66% to 28,308.67 points around 4:05 p.m. The Nasdaq, with strong technological coloring, gained 2.55% to 11,886.18 points and the extended S&P 500 index, the most representative of the American market, was up 1.96% to 3,510.87 points.
Wall Street had already finished sharply on Wednesday, attentive to the results of an ultra-tight presidential poll between outgoing Republican President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden: the Dow Jones had taken 1.34% and the Nasdaq 3.85% .
