In December 2020, they had however accepted a 25% reduction in their remuneration for 4 years due to the financial difficulties encountered by the institution.

In December 2020, in the midst of a year and a half of inactivity due to the Covid 19 crisis, the staff members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NY Phil) had agreed, like those of other major American orchestras, a reduction (25%) in their salaries until the end of the 2023 financial year and a gradual return to normal during the year 2024. The good surprise came 2 years earlier with the announcement by management on Monday of the restoration of pre-crisis wages from September.
