1 / What is the New York City Pass for?
The New York City Pass is a pass that gives you access to 6 must-see monuments and museums in New York for a fixed price much lower than the total that you would pay if you had to buy each of the 6 entries at the normal price.
In 2020, the New York City Pass costs around € 122 while the total of 6 entries is around € 150: this still represents nearly € 30 savings per person!
2 / What does the New York City Pass include?
The New York City Pass includes must-see monuments and museums on your first visit to New York, with certain tours to choose from. Here’s what’s included:
- The Empire State Building Observatory, with audio guide.
- The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island OR a Circle Line cruise.
- The Top of the Rock Observatory OR the Guggenheim Museum.
- The National Museum of September 11, 2001 OR the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
- The American Museum of Natural History.
- Le Metropolitan Museum of Art.
3 / How does it work in practice?
Once you have purchased your pass on the New York City Pass page, you will receive a voucher (or “voucher”) to print or display on your smartphone. You will need to present it at the cash desk of the first monument or museum you visit in New York, for example at the entrance to the Empire State building. You will then be given your pass in exchange. Convenient !
4 / What does a New York City Pass look like?
The New York City Pass is presented as a small booklet with several detachable coupons, one coupon for each visit. Please note: above all, do not remove the coupons yourself! When you arrive at the checkout, simply present the entire notebook and the corresponding coupon will be detached for you.
5 / Does the New York City Pass allow “skip-the-line” access?
As well as saving you a lot of money, the New York City Pass also saves you time at certain attractions. This is the case for boarding the Statue of Liberty: you will benefit from a special line, much shorter than the general line. The same goes for the National Museum of September 11, 2001. Just look for the “New York City Pass” sign to get “skip the line”.
6 / Do I have to buy a pass per person?
The New York City Pass is nominative. If you are more than one, you must therefore purchase one pass per person. If there are two of you, this will save you nearly € 66!
7 / Do I have to buy a pass for the children?
Children aged 6 to 17 can also benefit from the discount offered by the New York City Pass. The price of the child pass is € 85.02. You can also book children’s passes on the New York City Pass booking page.
8 / How long is a New York City Pass valid for?
New York City Pass vouchers are valid 6 months from date of purchase on the reservation page. If you have already fixed the dates of your trip, I advise you to buy your New York City Passes as soon as possible, in order to avoid the two annual increases in the price of the pass, in January and in the spring.
Once in New York, when you collect your notebooks, passes are valid for 9 days from the date of first use. If you arrive in New York on September 1 and collect your New York City Pass on September 2 and make a first visit afterwards, you will have until September 10 to take all the tours under the pass.
9 / Is there an imposed order for carrying out the visits?
Not at all ! You organize your visits when you want and you do the museums and monuments in the order and at the time you want. It’s up to you to choose whether you start with the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State building or this or that museum. You are free !
10 / Is the New York City Pass only bookable in euros?
If you live in Switzerland, be aware that it is possible to book your New York City Pass in Swiss francs. If you are Canadian, you can also purchase your passes in Canadian dollars. All you have to do is select the currency of your choice at the bottom of the search module in the international version of the pass reservation page. Click on the cursor and select your currency. Note that the purchase of your passes on the page dedicated to the New York City Pass is obviously secure.
