The pandemic made the traditional, always well-attended New Year’s reception in the town hall impossible. Therefore the city council came up with a video message.

Traditions are not worth much in these special times. The Frauenfeld New Year’s reception had to believe in it because of the pandemic. On January 1st, the large citizens’ hall in the town hall remained empty, no indulgent sipping of local wine, no New Year’s paper, no lively discussions. The city council very much regrets not being able to toast the New Year with the residents of Frauenfeld as usual, according to a media release.
“Nonetheless, it is important to him to wish all Frauenfelders a good start into 2021 and, above all, the best of health.”
These wishes come as a video message for once.
A cinematic tour of the town hall
The cinematic contribution is two minutes and 38 seconds long and makes a difference. All five members of the city council have their say at various locations in the town hall with a few personal statements, accompanied by a suitable musical accompaniment.

Vice-President Elsbeth Aepli will start. There is humor in her gift package. She wishes you a reason every day to smile or laugh heartily.
“I wish you a lot of perseverance and courage in pursuing your goals.”
That’s what City Councilor Fabrizio Hugentobler says into the camera. He throws his package of success to Councilor Barbara Dätwyler. “I hope we can have a party together again soon,” she says. There is confidence in her parcel.
Of small detours and a year full of life
Next up is City Councilor Andreas Elliker with the Tatkraft-Päckli. Sometimes you have to take a detour, but always keep an eye on the goal.
“Then you will find the right branch.”
City President Anders Stokholm is holding the joy of life in his hands with the white package. “I hope that 2021 will be a year full of life and drive,” he says, and ends with: “Take care.”
