“Spring” is described as “a heartfelt, humorous and touching story about the friendship and life of a rural youth school, the years of the writer’s Lutsa school at the village church school, during the Estonian national awakening in the early 20th century.”
The show is intended for the whole family, and as the theater noted, many spectators will remember, because in Latvia, at the Youth Theater, the dramatization of the novel “Spring” was staged for the first time in 1980 by Estonian director Miks Mikivers.
The theater also noted that “Oscar Luts’ novel” Spring “has been recognized as the second most important literary work in Estonia, and its dramatization there is the most staged literary work of all time.”
A wide ensemble of actors participates in the performance: Lauris Subatnieks, Lauris Dzelzītis, Gints Grāvelis, Dainis Gaidelis, Artis Robežnieks, Kristīne Nevarauska, Aldis Siliņš, Niklāvs Kurpnieks, Mārtiņš Upenieks, Gints Andžāns, Juris Strenga, Indra Briķe, Juris , Ērika Eglija-Grāvele, Milēna Miškēviča, Katrīna Griga, Kārlis Arnolds Avots, Inga Seņkāne.
Scenography for the show was created by Mārtiņš Vilkārsis, costumes – Ilze Vītoliņa, choreographer – Inga Seņkāne, lighting artist – Margus Vaigurs.
On January 26, Daile is expected to premiere the next international project – the comedy “A Show That Gets Butter”. The play “Butter in a Butter” is a replica of the original play “The Play That Goes Wrong” by London’s West End Mischief Theater, co-directed by Daile’s actors and technical team with Mischief Theater director Amy Marchant.
This play by Henry Louis, Jonathan Seer and Henry Shield won the prestigious Lawrence Olivier Award for Best Comedy of the Year in 2015. “The Play That Goes Wrong” has been shown in more than 30 countries around the world, including on Broadway.
The play tells the story of a university drama and the premiere of their production “Murder at Haversham Manor”, during which everything goes wrong – the props do not stick to the walls, the actors forget the text, even the stage floor invades. In spite of force majeure conditions, the enthusiasts of the drama group are determined to play the show to the end.
