The update installs Windows 11 immediately after the device connects to the Internet for the first time.
Microsoft is releasing the update for both Home and Professional editions of Windows 10 versions 21H1, 21H2 and 22H2. The so-called ‘Out-of-Box experience’ has been assigned the code name KB5020683 and must according to Microsoft the transition to Windows 11 run more smoothly.
User choice
The new update is intended for Windows 10 systems being used for the first time. When your device connects to the Internet for the first time, the update is installed automatically. The user is then given the option to install Windows 10 or Windows 11 on the device.

Until now, the new device installed Windows 10 first and the user was given the option to receive the Windows 11 upgrade. Provided, of course, that the device qualifies for it. By installing the new update first, the transition to Windows 11 should be faster and smoother, according to Microsoft.
Windows support for the 2004 version ended for all editions at the end of last year. So it was a few months ago 20H2 version in Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations. By version 21H1 support ends in December. Microsoft recommends that users of these versions upgrade to a recent version of Windows 10 or, if the device allows it, to Windows 11.
