The new generation will also be produced at the main plant in Wolfsburg.
Volkswagen surprised us today with the first sketches of the new generation ID.3 compact electric model, which it plans to premiere in the spring of next year. The car manufacturer also took customer suggestions into account during the development phase and focused on a more mature design, higher-quality materials and an expansion of the standard equipment.
„The new ID.3 confirms our ambitions regarding quality, design and sustainability. Its design is more mature, the interior materials are more precious,” says Imelda Labbéová, member of the management board responsible for sales, marketing and after-sales services of the Volkswagen brand. “The needs of our customers are at the center of our attention. That’s why we listen to them with interest and adapt our product portfolio to their needs,” adds Labbéová.
The next generation ID.3 will come with a new generation of software that will improve system performance and support over-the-air updates. In addition, standard equipment will be expanded to include a 12-inch display, a removable trunk floor and a center console with a pair of cup holders.
In terms of technology, the new ID.3 model will offer, for example, an intelligent e-route planner, which should offer easier and more convenient charging. But the latest assistance systems will also be missing, including the optional Travel Assist with shared data and the Park Assist Plus with memory function.
„The ID.3 shows how we are realizing the ambitions of the Volkswagen brand to offer high-quality technologies and innovations even in the compact class. Last but not least, this is reflected in the new comfort and assistance systems. Thanks to the use of shared data in the latest version of the “Travel Assist” system, we are taking another step towards automated driving,” explains Kai Grünitz, member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen brand responsible for the technical development area.
The premiere of the new Volkswagen ID.3 generation is scheduled for early March next year. The first cars should therefore appear on the Czech market around June 2023. However, the automaker will still inform about the exact dates.
In addition to the introduction of the new VW ID.3, however, the automaker has announced plans to expand its production as well. Currently, the car is produced in Cvikov and Dresden, but starting next year, production will also begin at the main plant in Wolfsburg, which should help the automaker meet strong demand.
