After some works that cost almost half a million euros and the installation of the machine, andl Virgen Macarena Hospital in Seville the new “Elekta Versa Select” linear accelerator (ALE) has just been put into operation.
The new equipment replaces the already dismantled 15-year-old «Primus Siemens», and is identical to one that could be started up at the beginning of 2019, also financed by the Amancio Ortega Foundation. The cost of the two machines is about 3.4 million euros. The first ALE has been working from 8 in the morning to 12 at night and this second will accelerate cancer treatments.
