The new entry-level Amazon Kindle Basic e-book reader will be launched on October 1. Recently, a Spanish website has revealed the appearance and specifications in advance. The screen brightness of this reader is 25% higher than the previous generation, and a system-wide dark mode has been added. This Kindle Basic is made of 75% recycled plastic and 90% recycled magnesium metal Even the packaging material consists of 98% wood fiber, which comes from sustainably managed forests or resources renewable.
The new Kindle Basic is equipped with a 6-inch e-ink display with a resolution of 300 PPI, but it is not known whether it uses E INK Carta 1200 technology. This Kindle uses a recessed screen and frame design, in addition without a glass cover, making the reading experience clearer and more comfortable. The new version of the front-lit screen can still provide stronger contrast and a smoother page-turning experience at maximum brightness.
The released product specifications do not reveal processor speed or RAM size, but the new Kindle Basic supports Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi and USB-C interfaces. 16 GB storage capacity is enough for thousands of books, magazines and comics. One charge gives up to 8 weeks of battery life 10.85 x 15.78 x 0.8cm and weighs 154g. The 2024 version of Kindle Basic is available in black and matcha green, and is expected to be priced at around 119 euros (about HK$1,033).
