DJ Quicksilver: The “new techno is the new EDM”
It’s been a long time since I heard any criticism from Orhan Terzi aka DJ Quicksilver: After the 90s star railed against today’s scene on his Facebook page in the first half of the year and didn’t mince his words about what was bothering him so much at the moment, the following followed Lately there have been more posts about fan mail or the operation that the 60-year-old has had.

In August, Quicksilver shared the shocking news with his followers that he needed surgery on his vocal cords because his ENT doctor had discovered a white spot there. As a result, Terzi stopped smoking. He was still able to perform his performances and even joked that luckily he wasn’t a singer and neither was one of the microphone DJs he used to criticize. Longer conversations just weren’t possible for a while, but that’s not necessary during DJ sets anyway, true to the mottos “Music is life!” and “We find ourselves in music,” as Quicksilver said in a Facebook post from March 17th. announced in September.

Terzi describes the new trend as a “novel, uniformly black-clad, collective and monotonous fidgeting to techno”that’s nothing else “as a warmed-up, old 90s hard trance” and would soon “annoy the new generation itself”.
His conclusion: “The so-called new techno is the new EDM!”. For Terzi, this means that techno, as it is currently being celebrated, is a trend that will happen again. He already senses the next trend in Afro House, which his trance DJ colleague Armin van Buuren has also recently been producing.
