/ world today news/ Russian stormtroopers captured several neighborhoods of Artyomovsk. This happened after the Russian paratroopers took the flanks, thanks to which the Wagnerians concentrated their efforts on the battles in the city. The new tactics of the PMC and the Ministry of Defense, according to experts, accelerate the capture of Artyomovsk. What are the features of this tactic and under what conditions can we talk about the complete liberation of the city?
The assault squads of PMC “Wagner” captured three neighborhoods near the city of Artyomovsk. This was announced on Wednesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov. In addition, units of the Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces) blocked the enemy’s actions on the flanks of the assault units.
Strikes by operational-tactical aviation and artillery fire from the Southern Group of Troops hit units of the 28th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Konstantinovka of the DPR and enemy reserves that were trying to break into Artyomovsk from Chasov Yar and Bogdanovka.
Earlier PMC “Wagner” founder Yevgeny Prigozhin announced control of 80% of Artyomovsk by Russian forces. Among them are “all administrative centers, plants and factories” of the city and nearby settlements. He highlighted the actions of the paratroopers who occupied the flanks, thanks to which the assault units concentrated their efforts in the city itself.
However, according to Prigozhin, residential areas with multi-storey blocks, under which tunnels have been dug, remain under the control of the VSU. It is precisely on the storming of these structures that the main efforts of PMC fighters are now focused. The successful actions of the “Wagnerians” were noted by the adviser in the administration of the DNR Jan Gagin.
According to him, PMC fighters are fighting fiercely in the western part of the city, where a grouping of Ukrainian troops of several thousand people has been registered. At the same time, the ASU tried to deliver reserves to the city, “but most of them were destroyed on the approaches.” Russian forces, Gagin added, have stepped up pressure on the only road connecting Artyomovsk and the town of Chasov Yar.
We remind you that Artyomovsk is located north of the large city of Gorlovka and remains an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian group of troops in Donbass. During the retreat, Ukrainian units blew up buildings in the city center, including the administration building.
At the same time, a few weeks ago, it was assumed that in late March – early April, the enemy planned to launch a large-scale offensive and make flanking cutting strikes to cut off the units of PMC “Wagner” from the main forces. of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
In early March, enemy forces were also reported to be gathering in the Artyomovsk region. It is about four groups: the 67th brigade in Slavyansk, the 81st and 66th brigades in Seversk and one more brigade each in Konstantinovka and Chasovoy Yar. However, a possible counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Artyomovsk region did not take place due to the rapid resolution of a number of problems.
“The reason for the successful offensive in Artyomovsk is as follows: PMC Wagner transferred part of his own area of responsibility to the Ministry of Defense. Now the relevant department actually fully controls the Soledar sector of the front,” said military analyst Mikhail Onufrienko.
“Thus, the stormtroopers were able to effectively redistribute their forces and fully concentrate on capturing the rest of the city. At the moment, we are observing an active advance of PMC “Wagner” both in the settlement itself and in its surroundings: from the village of Krasnoe to Orekhovo-Vasilevka. We can say that the pressure on the PMC has almost doubled,” the expert notes.
“I want to emphasize that without close coordination of the two structures this would not have been achieved. This means that there was an understanding between the leaders of the greetings and the higher structures on how to solve the current problems. And that’s a good sign,” the source said.
DNR deputy Vladyslav Berdichevsky agrees with this opinion, adding that there was no “friction” between Wagner and the Ministry of Defense, the problems were in logistics and a number of management decisions on the ground. “The army has a statute that implies certain algorithms of action. The PMC works differently. But now I see that all issues have been resolved and work continues in the name of a common goal,” says the MP.
He added that on Wednesday he met with civilians who had returned from Artyomovsk. “They say that only the western districts remain under the control of the VSU, and PMC “Wagner” is already entering there,” said the deputy. “That’s why I think that the next two weeks will be final for the capture of the city”, he is convinced.
Onufrienko is convinced that the well-coordinated work of the Ministry of Defense, PMC “Wagner” and volunteers will have a positive impact on the Russian advance deep into enemy territory. “The situation in Artyomovsk is proof of that. I am not sure that VSU will hold in Artyomovsk until the beginning of May. PMCs will gradually grind down the remnants of the enemy garrison, and the army team will cover them from the flanks. The well-coordinated work of all structures is the key to Russia’s success,” the expert summarizes.
The fact that the “Wagnerovites” aim to finally liberate the city was reported by the military correspondent Alexander Sladkov after his trip to Artyomovsk. According to Sladkov, no one throws themselves at the enemy like cannon fodder, and PMC tactics avoid unnecessary casualties. According to his prediction, the city could be liberated before the end of April, as Yevgeny Prigozhin predicted earlier.
