The infected brain?
Doctors in the U.S. have observed a great deal of confusion in their patients, to the point of lose their bearings and no longer know what year they were. For Dr. S. But then, how does the virus access patients’ brains? According to American doctors, the coronavirus infiltrates into the brain through the nose, since another of the symptoms is loss of smell. This hypothesis has not yet been proven, as some patients who have lost their sense of smell do not show signs of confusion.
Is your brain overheated?
Another hypothesis: the overheated immune response. In short, the virus is detected in the cerebrospinal fluid, the blood-brain barrier, which usually has the role of blocking intruding substances. What it no longer does.
This was observed in a 24-year-old Japanese patient suffering from confusion and convulsions. Imagery of his brain showed significant inflammation, as reported inInternational Journal of Infectious Disease.
American neurologists claim that these new symptoms affect 40% of patients.
Should we worry?
