Since Disney took over the helm of the Star Wars universe, things have been moving fast in the galaxy far, far away. New series and movies are coming out almost every year, and 2024 is no exception.
After the current series The Acolyte ended a few weeks ago, fans will get another series this year in the form of Skeleton Crew. At this year’s fan event D23, Disney has now finally shared the first video material for the upcoming Star Wars series.
And that’s something special, because Skeleton Crew will be different from everything fans have ever seen in the Star Wars universe. But you should see for yourself – we’ve included the trailer below.
1:41 Skeleton Crew: The first trailer for the new Star Wars series is here – and completely different than expected
What’s so different about Skeleton Crew? Unlike most previous Star Wars series and films, Skeleton Crew is a genuine youth series.
Some will certainly argue that the animated series Rebels or The Clone Wars were also aimed more at children – but the protagonists of a story in the Star Wars universe have never been as young as in Skeleton Crew.
Conversely, this does not mean that the series is only worth watching for children. Because perhaps this narrative trick offers an interesting change of perspective for lightsaber-weary Star Wars fans.
What is Skeleton Crew about?
Many details about the plot are still unclear, but according to initial information, Skeleton Crew takes place shortly after the fall of the Galactic Empire, i.e. after Episode 6.
According to the trailer, the series is about a group of children who discover an old Jedi ship on their home planet and are involuntarily drawn into an adventure that takes them to the other end of the galaxy.
While searching for a way home, the children meet the mysterious Jedi Jod Na Nawood, who is British star actor Jude Law The trailer also shows the well-known X-Wings of the Rebel Alliance.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is scheduled to launch on Disney+ on December 3, 2024. A new episode will be released every week. The season will consist of eight episodes in total. Andor Season 2 will continue on Disney in 2025.
