Disney continues to plan feature remakes of its animated classics. The last time we saw a pretty decent Cruella with the famous Emma Stone as a prequel for 101 Dalmatians. The Little Mermaid, played by African-American actress Halle Bailey, is also currently being shot. Today we already know about another planned feature film with real actors.
A remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is about to take place. The main role will be played by Rachel Zegler, a twenty-year-old rising star, whom we will first see in another project. He will play the main character in the remake of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. Next year she will perform again in the comic book Shazam 2. Subsequently, we can look forward to her version of Snow White.

But many Disney fans are against the cast. The actress has a half-Colombian origin, which would not in itself bother critics if she did not have a slightly darker skin.
Snow White is always portrayed as a girl with snow-white skin (called Snow White in English).
But since the actress attracted Spielberg himself and cast her in a big blockbuster, it is clear that she is extremely talented and probably surpassed all her socks at the casting (there were 30,000 of them at the casting for West Side Story).
New Snow White shouldn’t just have a different skin color. According to Deadline, this will be a completely new and original treatment of the story. The songs for the music scenes are to be created by the creators of The Greatest Showman, so we are looking forward to the soundtrack.
We understand the arguments of people who would prefer Hollywood to create new characters for talented actors and actresses from less represented groups (South American actors, African Americans, Asians, etc.). But we have to realize that we are talking about the Disney conglomerate. If they make hundreds of millions more just because it’s the famous Snow White, they won’t create a whole new character.
They simply take the name Snow White, create a new and better character from it, and retell the story they want to tell, earning a decent amount of money. It’s a complex pre-production and production process that we don’t see into, but to say that Disney cast this actress “forcibly” would be a narrow-minded and hasty statement.
