With a height of 325 meters and a total of 93 floors, The Brooklyn Tower will become, once it is fully completed in 2023, not only the new skyscraper of New York but in the tallest ever built in the borough of Brooklyn.
Developed by the architecture studio SHoP Architects, The Brooklyn Tower, had originally been called 9 DeKalb, featuring a dark-colored facade with metal details. Design elements are influenced by the historic Dimes Saving Bank Building, which was renovated and connected to the tower as part of the project.
The super skyscraper will contain 150 condominiums starting on the 53rd floor, with 400 rental residences on the lower floors and more than 9,300 square meters of retail space.
The terrace will include three swimming pools that surround the roof of the historic bank, while the 66th floor of the skyscraper will have the highest basketball court built anywhere in the world.
Also on the 66th floor there will be a dog park, another to play soccer and another area for outdoor games.
One feature is that this level is open to the outside on all sides, allowing the wind to pass through the building and thus reducing swaying on the upper floors.
The façade is designed in such a way that, when looking at the tower from a certain angle, two adjacent sides appear as if they were a single plane. This was a reference to older Art Deco skyscrapers such as the Chrysler Building and Rockefeller Center.
The exterior of The Brooklyn Tower was already finished in October 2022 and it is expected to be completely ready to start being inhabited and inaugurated during 2023.
