With the transition to the VW MQB-A0 platform, the Czech small hatchback has become larger and more spacious, which has had a positive effect on the luggage compartment volume of 380 liters (+50 l compared to the predecessor) and 1190 liters in the case of lowered rear seat backrests (+ 40 l).
Depending on the equipment level, the screen of the multimedia system will have a diagonal of 6.5, eight or 9.2 inches. In the basic version, the new Škoda Fabia’s instrument panel will be analog, but in richer configurations it will be fitted with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel.
The Fabia hatchback will already be equipped with six airbags and an electronic stability program. An electrically heated steering wheel and windscreen (for the first time in Fabia history), a panoramic glass roof, dual-lane climate control and adaptive cruise control, as well as airbags for the rear passengers, are available at an additional cost.
The new Škoda Fabia will only be available on the European market with petrol engines. At least for now, neither a hybrid nor a fully electric version is offered. Customers will be offered three types of engines – one-liter atmospheric with 65 or 80 hp, one-liter turbocharged with 95 or 110 hp, as well as a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 150 hp, which will accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds and reach a maximum of 225 km / h. Transmission choice – five- or six-speed manual, or seven-speed automatic DSG.
The new Škoda Fabia will go on sale in Europe this summer, but the Fabia Combi station wagon is expected next year, but there is no news about the possible sports modification of the Fabia vRS yet.
