The new Skoda Elroq electric model, the price close to the price for similar vehicles with an internal combustion engine – Economica.net

With a base price in Europe of 33,000 euros, the new Skoda Elroq electric model can be considered one of the most affordable vehicles in the fast-growing segment of compact SUVs, according to Klaus Zellmer, CEO of the brand. According to him, the order books have already been opened, and the first delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.

The competitive price should allow the Czech brand to win over buyers put off by the high prices of electric cars after most European countries have reduced or even eliminated subsidies for such vehicles. It will also help Skoda compete with European-focused Chinese carmakers.

According to the information provided by the company, the compact SUV Skoda Elroq will be available in versions with 55 kWh, 63 kWh and 85 kWh batteries. They provide autonomy of 370 km, 402 km and 579 km, respectively. The highest version, the 85x, will have a second electric motor on the front axle and, thanks to it, all-wheel drive.

The battery of the new Skoda electric model can be charged at DC stations with up to 175 kW, more than the charging power offered by the Renault Scenic, for example (150 kW). This ensures that users can charge the Elroq 85 from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes.

The Skoda Elroq, which is 4,488mm long, 1,884mm wide and 1,625mm high, is positioned below the mid-sized electric SUV Enyaq and has competitors such as the Renault Scenic E-Tech or the Ford Explorer.

The SUV uses Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, which replaces the brand’s previous grille with a sleek black ‘Tech Deck’ strip mounted between tall, narrow LED beams. The headlight modules, mounted below, provide low beam functions and high beam. The higher equipment versions have LED Matrix technology that changes to car lights coming from the other side.

According to Skoda officials, the Skoda model is “extremely aerodynamic”, with a drag coefficient Cd of 0.26. Aerodynamic elements include active shutters in the front that open only when the battery needs to cool.

Inside, the Skoda Elroq features a central 13-inch touchscreen, while the driver can get additional information from a second 5.3-inch screen behind the steering wheel. The infotainment system offers a clearer menu structure, an improved navigation system and an air conditioning control system that is easier to use. An augmented reality head-up display is also available.

A series of active safety features included in the “Driving Assistance” package include adaptive lane assist, adaptive cruise control and traffic assist. Intelligent Speed Assist automatically adheres to speed limits based on traffic sign recognition.

The Skoda Elroq has a boot of 470 liters, which increases to 1,580 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

The Elroq is the first of four new battery-powered cars that Skoda plans to launch in the coming years. The compact SUV will be followed by the small B-class SUV Epiq, with a length of 4,100 mm, which will be launched in 2025 and will have a starting price of around 25,000 euros. The third model is a medium-sized station wagon, scheduled for 2026, and the fourth will be a production version of the Vison 7S concept, an SUV that can accommodate up to seven passengers.
