The New Saudi Arabia: Filling Gaps of “Discord with Religions” through Opening “the Doors of Coexistence”

Saudi Arabia has always called for the need for legislation that respects religions and criminalizes insulting religious symbols, in order to sow peace, renounce violence, and combat raging hate speech.

In light of the historical data, the Kingdom stresses the need for peaceful coexistence, the creation of channels of communication, and dialogue between followers of religions. If one contemplates the country’s history, he will find that it has taken remarkable steps in this regard, such as the establishment of the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue, or even the King’s Center. Abdullah Foundation for Dialogue between Followers of Religions, as well as the Etidal Center for Combating Extremist Ideology.

During this era, since Prince Muhammad bin Salman assumed the mandate of the Covenant, he made a remarkable promise that was tattooed in the memory of modern Saudi history by saying, “We will destroy them now and immediately”; Referring to the “extremists” who hijacked the Islamic religion and distorted its image, due to the ideologies that were deposited in their minds, the Crown Prince uprooted extremist ideology and its symbols so that the country could rise and see the dawn of enlightenment.

And at a time when Vision 2030 reinforced the presence of remarkable changes, whether in the education system and the fields of culture, the prince was able, with his prudent philosophy, to return to moderate, moderate Islam, to reject everything that would create division or hatred, and to intensify the desire to return to what the Kingdom was like before 1979. That is, moderate, moderate Islam that is open to the world, to all religions, and to all traditions and peoples.

As a result of enhancing openness towards the other, the door was opened for dialogue, as last year witnessed the “Common Values Among Followers of Religions” forum, which was hosted by the Muslim World League, in the city of Riyadh, in the presence of a number of religious leaders.

This forum would not have been expected had it not been for the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and the Crown Prince’s belief in the need to intensify cooperation between religious leaders, in order to produce a common modern religious discourse, as it resulted in the creation of a modern international system, under an international umbrella, and the forum included a number of main axes, such as clarification The truths of Islam that came as a mercy to the worlds, in the presence of a number of religious leaders who are completely independent of any trends outside the religious framework, and therefore this step is calculated for Saudi Arabia.
