When I was at the military-technical exhibition “Army-2021” a few years ago, I saw that many foreigners were “sticking” to our two-meter missile with the mysterious name “Product-305” for a long time. Foreign specialists simply did not take it for granted. And soon sarcastic notes appeared in the Western press: according to them, the Russians put out a mock-up to confuse NATO competitors developing similar weapons.
In short – they aim to mislead, to put the potential opponent on a false trail. They say that this nameless missile cannot have the declared tactical-technical characteristics because the West is “blocked the airways’ of the Russian defense industry, and without foreign electronic components, nothing with such parameters can be created. Well, it was created.
Even today, panicked texts are already flashing in the Western media: the Russians have not only created a unique missile, but during a special operation in Ukraine they are using it with all their might from their modernized Ka-52M and Mi-28NM combat helicopters.
And even the high-spirited analysts of Forbes, a magazine for the rich, were very concerned about the appearance of “product 305”. The author of the material (David Hambling) even named it “the main reason for the failure of the ambitious offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces”. Although it is strongly said, there were quite a few other reasons as well…
And our military experts in this regard no longer hesitate to admit that it is true that the mysterious “Product-305” is the latest light multi-purpose guided missile (with the purring abbreviation LMUR). And it was created by the golden heads and hands of the designers and engineers of the legendary Kolomensk Machine-Building Bureau (KBM), from where many types of weapons and military equipment emerged that have no equal in the world (only the operational-tactical complex “Iskander” is worth!) .
Well, now let me introduce this same LMUR, which in the last few days has already caused a stir in the world and is instilling fear and terror in VSU.
What is already known about him, what can be said without revealing his secret “tricks”?
Let’s start with the fact that Product 305 allows Russian helicopter pilots to hit targets without entering the enemy’s air defense zone. And this is extremely important for helicopters: if you move into the danger zone, you can get a missile in the “belly”.
It is extremely important that the LMUR is a guided munition. The helicopter crew visually guides it to the target.
And what do knowledgeable Western experts say about this? Che “this Russian missile clearly belongs to the class of high-precision weapons”. They also say something else: “This missile has become the most effective air-to-air weapon.”
Here are the already “illuminated” performance characteristics of the “product”:
Flight range – 14.5 km
Length – 1.945 m
Diameter of the case – 200 mm
Starting weight – 105 kg
Flight speed – up to 230 m/s
Warhead – high-explosive fragmentation

An important advantage of the LMUR is the optical homing head (OGH), which can be used in two different modes.
In the first, the target is captured by the operator before launch, and the carrier helicopter can immediately change course after the missile is launched (as helicopter pilots joke, “shoot and run”).
In the second mode, the missile is fired without locking onto a specific target. First, the LMUR flies in the direction of the target using inertial guidance (with corrections from satellite navigation). In addition, the image from the homing head is transmitted back to the helicopter (there is special equipment on board that shows the battlefield). Here, the operator already selects a priority target and directs the missile to it.
Judging by the confessions of captured Ukrainian officers, the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was very impressed by how accurately the “little-known item”, as they say, flies and enters “through the window”. Terrible surprise, with local delivery.
But it’s better to keep quiet about it for now.
