The New Rearrangement of Yellow Pavers Begins in Sofia, Amid Concerns of Damage

It started in Sofia the new rearrangement of the yellow pavers in the capital. The contractor Trace Group told bTV that they knew how to work and there were no damaged pavers.

The company is categorical that there will be no problem this time because the technology is new and tested, as are the materials.

Already in the first hours, however, our editorial mail received signals about “pick picking” on the historic pavement.

We contacted various road experts who claim that there is technology just for ordering, but not for removing the yellow pavers. It is mandatory to remove them carefully without breaking their integrity.

We ask the historian Associate Professor Todor Chobanov whether picking with a pick is correct for this pavement.

“It is desirable that the pavers are not hit from above. After all, these are paving stones more than 100 years old. For a century, hundreds of thousands of cars, heavy machinery, and the Gergevden tank push them every year, so they are already at a fragile age and strong blows should be avoided. It is best, when possible, to take them out by hand. There is no technology for taking out in the textbooks, there is technology for laying. This is the puzzle. Let’s face it, no matter how we arrange them, these are pavers more than a century old, these are ceramics that no one imagined would have such a daily load,” commented Assoc. Chobanov.

In order to avoid irregularities, the most important thing, according to him, is control.

Dismantling the historic pavement will take between 10 and 15 days. The new rearrangement is expected to be completed in mid-September.
