Sunak’s parents are Indians whose families emigrated to Africa but moved to Britain in the 1960s. Sunak was born in the English city of Southampton in 1980. Sunak’s father worked as a family doctor, while his mother owned a pharmacy. The family was well enough to send Sunaka to an exclusive private school, although during the summer holidays he worked as a waiter in an Indian restaurant.

Sunak received his higher education in the best universities in the world. He studied philosophy, political science and economics at the University of Oxford. During his masters studies at Stanford University in the United States, he met his wife, Akshat Murthy, whose father, billionaire Narayan Murthy, owns the Indian IT company “Infosys”. Murthy, who is often described as the “Bill Gates of India”, is among the richest people in the country with 1.3 billion people. He ranks 41st on Forbes’ list of richest Indians.
