Aman New York
Opposite the iconic store Bergdorf Goodman and a stone’s throw from Central Park, the hotel floats between the 7th and 14th floors of a neo-classical building which notably housed the offices of the magazine Playboy. Entirely designed by the interior designer Jean-Michel Gathy, and surrounded by elaborate shutters, absolute calm rules the roost. Building on sleek Japanese lines, the 83 suites feature wickerwork furniture, comfortable light linen reading lights glued to the windows, hand-painted Japanese prints, large bathrooms and even a fireplace. On the 11th floor, the spa is officially the largest in the city and offers (among other things) cryotherapy, acupuncture and intravenous vitamin injections. While on the 14th floor, the two restaurants celebrate Italian cuisine and Japanese cuisine. Also equipped with a jazz club and ultra-private apartments, the real novelty lies in the creation of a membership club whose places are snapped up at exorbitant prices.
