According to Kaspars Zaviļeiskis, the representative of the festival organizers, in the innovative music of Fuensanta Mendez, various elements of nature are sung and played within the framework of Latin American rhythms.
Mendez graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory, performed both in Mexico and in many European countries. In Riga he will perform together with Italian singer Marta Arpini and Latvian singer Līva Dumpi, who will play keyboard instruments and percussion. Fuensanta also skillfully uses a sound loop machine while performing, and also plays the harana, or a small guitar-like Mexican acoustic stringed instrument.
As the organizers of the concert recall, the exhibition hall “M/Gallery” also operates in the cultural space “M/Workshop”, where the exhibition “Christmas Edition Vol. 2” of 19 young Latvian artists was opened. More than 50 works can also be purchased at reasonable prices. The exhibition will be open until December 30th.
The “M/Workshop” cultural space is located at 9 Aristīdas Briāna Street, in the block of von Strick’s villa.
