Mr. Eric Adams, an American citizen of African descent, is the current mayor of the borough of Brooklyn from 2014 to 2021.
He was elected mayor of New York City on November 2, 2021, largely dominating his Republican rival, Curtis Sliwa, winning 67% of the votes cast, thus becoming the city’s second black mayor, after the first in the city.
person of David Dinkins between 1990 and 1993. He will officially take office on January 1, 2022 as Mayor of the City of New York.
Eric Adams, an American citizen of African descent, according to the origin tests that black Americans do to determine their region of origin in Africa, says that the results of his tests indicate that his ancestors are of Senegalese origin. This is why in November 2019, he came to launch his campaign in Senegal.
And it is also for this reason, among others, that the Municipality of Mbour, a city of cultural diversity open to the world, under the leadership of Mayor Fallou Sylla and his special advisers in charge of Decentralized Cooperation, validated the proposal to raise him to the rank of “Honorary Citizen of the City of Mbour”.
This project was made possible thanks to the strong involvement of worthy sons of Mbour established in the USA and particularly of Mr. Papa Ibrahima Sow, former President of the Association of Senegalese in America and member of the victorious campaign team of the new Mayor. of New York as well as many other mbourois of the diaspora in New York.
Now, it will be up to the future Mayor of Mbour, whoever he is incha Allah, to work to transform this rapprochement with the city of New York into mutual opportunities for our respective cities. It will also be up to him to keep this beautiful partnership alive and growing at the service of our local populations.
