Edi Rama’s message
The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, posted on X about the election of the new mayor of Himara.
“Today’s election by the Himara Municipal Council, with 15 votes in favor and only 4 against, of the deputy mayor of the municipality, Blerina Bala, as acting mayor is a positive development for the continuation of the work of the local government,” he wrote.
“The failed attempt by a handful of motivated individuals to prevent this development based on the relevant legal obligation of the City Council clearly demonstrated the simple fact that the vast majority of Chimariotes do not belong in the trenches of conflict, division and senseless intensification of primitive strife, that feeds on interests and accounts that have nothing to do with the legitimate interests and needs of the people of Himara,” he said.
