The citizens of Gutach im Breisgau have elected Sebastian Rötzer as the new head of town hall. Rötzer received 77.66 percent of the valid votes, his competitor Jan Hug 21.81 percent.
3,736 citizens of the municipality of Gutach – located at the intersection of the Elz and Simonswald valleys – were called to the polls on Sunday. 55.6 percent of them took part. The majority of the votes – namely 1606 – went to Sebastian Rötzer, who will thus become the new mayor of the municipality of Gutach. Jan Hug received a total of 451 votes. Ten ballots were invalid, eleven had different names. Sebastian Rötzer was in quarantine at home because of Corona until shortly before the election date. Only on Saturday was he able to successfully clear the test. Delighted and touched, he accepted the announcement in the Bleibacher Halle – his competitor Jan Hug congratulated him shortly after the results were announced.
