Nicolás López Carreras was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of nine and lived with the disease for 21 years, which was until when it led to kidney failure.

Before the double transplant, she had to spend dozens of hours in waiting rooms and visit a handful of different medical specialists. “Until finally they tell me that the kidneys were working at 20 or 30 percent, but that it was not necessary to extract anything,” he said.
Thus it was that Nicolás has lived with three kidneys and two pancreas since 2018, since it was a surgery to annex existing organs. “I felt like I was born again. My quality of life improved 100%,” he admitted.
