The new iPad Pro comes with an M4 chip, which is Apple’s thinnest product to date

A year and a half after the launch of the 2022 models, Apple held another iPad presentation on Tuesday afternoon Hungarian time, where this time there were no crazy surprises, but several noteworthy novelties were announced. One of them was that the new redesigned iPad Air will not only get the M2 chip, but will also get a 13-inch one alongside the usual 11-inch model. And the other is that

Apple was not satisfied with the M3 chip, which was recently included in the new Macbook Air, for the new iPad Pro, instead it presented the M4 chip, which debuted here.

Although it was known in advance that Tuesday’s event would be about iPads, there was still some time at the beginning to introduce Apple’s mixed reality glasses, the Vision Pro. This is probably not necessary, because even though Apple recently announced again that more than half of the Fortune 100 companies already use it, the leading Apple rumor According to Kuo Ming-chi, interest in glasses is declining sharplyand the company lowered its own expectations.

Then came the iPads, to begin with Air, with the aim of making the functions introduced in Pro more affordable. The biggest change here is that, in response to the trends appearing at Pro, the Air was also made into a larger, 13-inch model, which is said to sound better. The front camera has been moved to the longer side, the M2 chip has been added instead of the M1, it supports the latest Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The storage space started at 128 gigabytes, and for all this

  • HUF 299,990 for the 11-inch model,
  • and for the 13-inch, you have to pay HUF 399,990.

In the case of the iPad Pro, by definition, more serious changes have arrived, starting with the M4 chip, which the company has just presented, but before we get to that, it’s worth going over everything else quickly. The new Pro can also be purchased in 11- and 13-inch models, the former is 5.3 millimeters, the latter 5.1 millimeters thick – this is even thinner than the iPod Nano, specifically, it is Apple’s thinnest product to date. Their weight is 0.44 kilograms and 0.58 kilograms, but what do these dekas matter?

The display is also new, for the first time it is an OLED panel, or two at the same time to make it bright enough. Apple calls this Tandem OLED, and the display itself Ultra Retina XDR, which they say is of course the most advanced display in the world. And then now comes the M4, which was made with the further development of 3-nanometer production technology, and in addition to the mandatory performance increase, the built-in artificial intelligence accelerator has also become very powerful.

The front camera has also been moved to the longer side, and the rear camera already supports ProRes video recording and Smart HDR 4. A new camera app called Final Cut Camera is also coming to iPad Pro and iPhones, which allows for multi-camera editing even live. Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro are getting a new, better version, they were mainly sold with artificial intelligence features like AI-based session musicians.

In the apps segment, the Hungarian Shapr3D, which deals with 3D modeling, was also mentioned, who in 2016 were the first to develop such software for the iPad, and who were also among the first to work with Vision Pró.

Interestingly, due to Apple’s previous inflationary pricing, only the 11-inch model became HUF 30,000 more expensive than its predecessor, which debuted two years ago, but in dollar terms, according to rumors, the new iPad Pros have increased in price, costing USD 200 more than their predecessors in 2022. The Hungarian prices here are as follows:

  • 11-inch iPad Pro – HUF 499,990;
  • 13-inch iPad Pro – HUF 649,990.

In addition to the two iPads, there were two other things to talk about, one is the Apple Pencil Pro, which received a couple of new functions, including the Locator, which is why they are asking HUF 62,990. The other is the redesigned Magic Keyboard, which is thinner and lighter, has a new row of function keys, and the trackpad is larger and has haptic feedback. Apple claims that in this way you can use the iPad with the keyboard just like a Macbook, which can be expected for HUF 149,990.

There was no mention of plain iPads until the end, and even there it was only revealed that Apple will no longer sell ninth-generation iPads following today’s announcement. This means that the last iPad with push-buttons and Lightning input has been withdrawn from circulation, and the 10th generation model has become cheaper, they ask for HUF 179,990 for the basic model. Nothing happened to the Mini, it is still available and costs HUF 249,990. The full announcement by clicking here you can look back.
