“Today is a non-trivial moment, which brings us back to the normality that we so much need, and which I am pleased to share with the representatives of the territorial authorities“.
Like this Elide Azzan, general manager of the Santa Croce e Carle Hospital of Cuneo, who in the afternoon today (Friday 8 April) inaugurated the new intensive care unit and the integrated endoscopic plate of the Cuneo ASO. An inauguration postponed for months due to the pandemic, and which therefore represents the real ‘switch’ of local healthcare to a period closer to normal pre-Covid.
Also present was the vice president of the regional council Franco GragliaSenator Mino Taricco, Monica Ciaburro, Regional Councilor Ivano Martinetti, Cuneo Councilor Cristina Clerico, Carabinieri Provincial Commander Giuseppe Carubia, President of the Santa Croce e Carle Foundation Silvia MerloGiuseppe Guerra, Corrado Bedogni and Monica Rebora.
“I thank all those present and all the department and structure directors, the department staff coordinators and all the staff, living assets of the company that spent in the pandemic period without sparing themselves, also endangering their own personal health“Azzan added.”A commitment that will hopefully change the setting, but which will continue to continue; the pandemic is not over but the company’s activities must pick up pace, and technological development must also continue: a hub like ours must continue to have cutting-edge elements“.
Intensive care, which has been strengthened by 15 beds from the ‘Arcuri floor’, is located on the first floor of the hospital, near the operating block. It has high technical and plant characteristics and had a cost of approximately 1,570 euros per square meter, plus 700,000 euros for equipment. The new integrated endoscopic plate – 650 square meters for a cost of 690,000 euros – instead aims to unite the hospital’s endoscopic activities in a single area.
“Congratulations to all of you for the achievement, which brings innovation and makes Cuneo even more a hospital of excellence – Merlo said – . Had he been present, councilor Luigi Icardi would have asked where we are with respect to the design of the new hospital. There will be another occasion“.

The professors and doctors have literally saved me and the fact that the quality of the service has increased and still increases cannot but make me happy; the regional council is not, as is sometimes pointed out, ‘verdunocentric’ and I personally am certainly ‘cuneocentric’. The message that passes in an inauguration like the one today is the desire to move forward towards new challenges, and to face obstacles all together.“.
Those present then continued with the cutting of the tapes and the visit to the department and to the plate. These two inaugurations will be followed, in the coming months, by other appointments and other renovations and activations.
