The sharpest Civic should arrive on the market together with the hybrid, which is the only available engine for European markets.

During yesterday’s premiere of the Civic Hatchback, a more stylish and practical alternative to the sedan, Honda mentioned that we can expect it to enter European markets only during August next year. The standard motorization should be the e: HEV hybrid system, ie Honda’s unique solution with a pair of engines, the parameters of which it has not yet specified for the Civic.

After all, the European version of the press release was generally quite choppy, while the press release for the US market offered a lot of more detailed information. However, in the global press release, the carmaker first mentioned the sharpest Civic Type R, which, like the hybrid, should reach the markets in 2022.
Unfortunately, the carmaker does not mention any closer timing for individual markets, nor closer parameters of the new generation Type R, but in the past it has already indicated that we have something to look forward to. In Europe, for example, the Type R will become the last purely petrol representative of the Civic model line.

According to the latest speculation, the new Civic Type R should be an evolution of the current model, which should also apply to the engine. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder should still be stored, which will transmit power via a six-speed manual transmission to the front wheels only. Honda has already refuted speculation about the ATV in the past.
A further increase in performance can be expected, with regard to the drive of only the front wheels, but these will probably not be any extreme numbers. Great expectations prevail, especially around the tuning of the chassis and experiences behind the wheel, which are already phenomenal behind the wheel of the current Civic Type R.
