AvtoVAZ is still on schedule since last year due to missing components, but production was suspended in the spring of this year due to Western sanctions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In particular, the carmaker lacks electronic components, which have so far been largely supplied by the German Bosch.
AvtoVAZ was idle for most of April due to corporate holidays that were moved from summer to spring. Although the carmaker promised to resume assembly after the May holidays, this did not happen – the downtime was extended until May 23, which was then extended for another week. Now the new head of the company promises that the resumption of Lada production is possible only in the summer and that it will take place in the beginning of June.
Sokolov has not yet specified whether AvtoVAZ will restore the entire range of models or only individual models.
