Can the new eighth-generation Golf GTI exceed 250 km / h at full speed on the motorway?
Like the previous Golf GTI Performance, the new Volkswagen Golf GTI eighth generation has a turbo four-cylinder engine with 245 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. Power that allows it to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds, exactly like the old model.
On paper, this new Golf GTI can also reach 250 km / h at top speed (with an electronic flange at this speed). But in reality, can it reach this number? During our test in Germany, we unfortunately could not find a portion of unlimited autobahn sufficiently empty for this. But the Germans of Automann, they took advantage of a much less busy highway.
How fast ?
So here is the new Golf GTI pushed to high speed in favor of a low traffic portion. Unfortunately, the driver still has to release the accelerator as he approaches 250 km / h, due to a vehicle in the left lane. In theory, the electronic control would have cut the injection anyway at around 255 km / h meter.
