PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have unveiled the final logo of the Stellantis Group, a new giant that will emerge from their equivalent merger.

The new company will cover the entire Franco-Italian-American cooperation. This will create a parent company that will use the new name and logo. Individual subsidiary brands will retain their established names and typical characters.

The PSA Group includes Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel with the British version Vauxhall.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is a multinational carmaker that manufactures Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Ram and Maserati.

The merger will create the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world after the Volkswagen Group, Toyota and the Renault-Nissan Group.

“The logo symbolizes the rich heritage of the founding companies of the Stellantis Group and the strength of the portfolio of 14 major automotive brands that fall under both concerns. It also demonstrates the diversity of professional backgrounds of its employees working in all regions of the world,” the new company said in a statement.

The name Stellantis is derived from the Latin verb “stello”, which means “to shine with the stars”. The logo will appear on company buildings in France, the USA, Italy and other headquarters around the world. “Together with the name Stellantis, it is a visual expression of the spirit of optimism, energy and renewal of a diversified and innovative society committed to becoming one of the new leaders in the coming era of sustainable mobility,” adds the automotive giant.

The introduction of the logo is a further step towards the completion of the merger project, which should take place by the end of the first quarter of next year after the usual conditions have been met, including shareholder approval and antitrust and other regulatory requirements.

The PSA and FCA groups agreed on the merger last December. Its value is estimated at 1.2 trillion crowns. Stellantis would like to sell about 8.7 million cars a year, annual sales should reach 4.5 trillion crowns.

The carmakers have been promising lower costs for the production of electrified cars since the merger thanks to the sharing of production capacities and parts of individual models. They cope better with meeting strict emission standards as well as weakening demand for some brands.

The PSA group also owns the Free2Move brand, through which it provides a range of connectivity and mobility services. PSA is one of the pioneers in providing cars with self-driving and a high level of connectivity. Its activities also include financing (Banque PSA Finance) and the production of car accessories (Faurecia).

FCA also sells parts and services under the Mopar brand and operates in the field of components and production systems under the Comau and Teksid brands.
