The new generation Renault Espace will have an impressive panoramic roof

Renault has revealed new details about the next generation Espace and the French company claims that this model will feature “a huge panoramic roof”. Reaching the sixth generation, the future Renault Espace seems to borrow some features from the Austral SUV and will be able to be configured with five or seven seats.

The French company has published a new series of teaser images of the interior of the upcoming Renault Espace, and the photos confirm the use of a large glass roof. Renault claims that this glass roof it has a length of 1.33 meters and a width of 84 centimeters, and passengers will thus have a unique view regardless of the place they occupy in the car.

The new Espace will have a length of 4.72 meters and a width reduced by 14 cm compared to the previous generation to 2.48 meters including the third row of seats. From what we can see in the new teaser photos, the panoramic glass roof appears to stretch almost the entire length of the roof. This aspect is also confirmed by the adoption of a body for the Espace that is more reminiscent of an SUV because sales in the minivan segment are declining.

Elements taken from Renault Austral

The new generation Espace borrows several elements for the interior from the Austral model and there is a good chance that it will be equipped with similar engines. In the new teaser images, in addition to the large panoramic roof, we can also notice the central console. The dashboard features the 12.3-inch screen for the dashboard instruments and the central 12-inch screen for the infotainment system. The front seats are separated by a high median tunnel and the gearshift has been moved to the steering column for variants equipped with an automatic gearbox. As this console appears to be very close to the one used for the Austral there is a good chance that the traditional controls for the usual functions will be retained.

As mentioned in the engine section, we can expect to see the engines used for the Austral on the list: a 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit with 140 hp, a Mild Hybrid Advanced system with a 1.2-liter/130 hp engine and the full hybrid version of the 1.2 liter engine in combination with an electric unit with a power between 160 HP and 200 HP depending on the version.

The new Renault Espace will have its world premiere on March 28.
