Nintendo and Niantic lor announced vgreedily in March, and now they have finally Curtain up all the way The latest game to emerge from the agreement between the two companies is called Pikmin Bloom, and in many ways it resembles Pokémon Go, which should not be anything strange.
In essence, Pikmin Bloom is about going outside and interacting with elements of the real world. The idea is that you go outside and take a walk to find Pikmin seeds that you have to grow. The more seeds you plant, the more Pikmin you will have walking with you until you form a small battalion that will leave a trail of flowers in your wake, a trail that will be visible to other players.
The avatars in the game look the same as the Miis, which is a nice tribute. You can watch below a trailer to introduce the game with Shiugeru Miyamoto as a guest star.
The truth is that in the trailer everything looks charming, but it does not seem that there is much more to do beyond walking and walking and planting flowers. It goes a bit in the vein of the Pikmin games, which don’t have as much action or epic battles as the Pokémon ones. I’m also not quite sure if word of mouth will work so well this time around because Pikmin is nowhere near the cultural phenomenon that Pokémon is, a phenomenon that has sproutedicated with greater or lesser force to several generations of players.
Perhaps what they are looking for is not to repeat the overwhelming success that Pokémon Go had. Pikmin Bloom seems to be content with giving you a reason to go outside for a walk (which is a very commendable goal) by making your walks a little more interesting. Perhaps moderate success with that premise is all you want.
