Ford introduced its new Ranger and its most powerful version, the Raptor, about two months ago, but the first cars should not hit the market until the end of this year for the Raptor and in January next year for the regular version. However, the Czech representation managed to get one of the few pre-production pieces to Prague, right in the already mentioned Raptor version.

The car will be manufactured in Thailand and customers will now be able to place their orders through Ford’s official website. Production will then begin in July and the first pieces will arrive on the market in December. Among other things, Ford stated at the Czech premiere that the Ranger is currently its “most global” model, as it is sold in 180 countries around the world.

As for the car itself, it is a really large pick-up with an operating weight of 2478 kg, which has a maximum set at 3130 kg and tightens a trailer weighing up to 2500 kg. In terms of design, in the new generation Ranger, it has approached the American sibling F-150, which is evoked by LED Matrix headlights in the shape of the letter C or a square radiator grille with a large Ford inscription.

It is definitely worth mentioning that the Raptor will arrive on the market with a new body, the lid of which can be used as a desk, 230 V / 400 W sockets on the body or sector lighting around the car. Ford wants to show that even the sharpest version will be a practical help for do-it-yourselfers and craftsmen. For an additional fee, it will then be possible to purchase an electronically lockable body lid.

In the interior, however, we find the exact opposite, because Ford, unlike the previous generation, emphasized greater luxury and quality of materials used. We will therefore find more comfortable leather seats with the Raptor inscription in combination with Alcantara leather, a 14.8 ″ digital instrument panel and, above all, a vertical 12 inf infotainment display with the new SYNC 4A operating system. Also new is the automatic transmission selector called E-Shifter and the round driving mode selector.

But the Raptor is most impressive with the new engine, as Ford has decided to put a twice-supercharged three-liter V6 EcoBoost petrol engine under the hood, which will offer 288 horsepower and 491 Nm of torque under Euro 6.2 emission standards. As standard, the engine will be connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission and e-4WD all-wheel drive. You can choose between a clean ATV, an attachable ATV, a fixed ATV or all-wheel drive with reduction.

The sharpest Ranger on the market will offer, among other things, 7 driving modes, three of them (Normal, Sport and Slippery surface) on ordinary roads and the remaining four (Rocks, Písek, Bláto and Baja) off-road. In total, the car offers up to 100 different combinations of settings. The new Raptor, for example, can close the rear and front differentials compared to the previous generation. Fox Live Valve active shock absorbers with Bypass function are also new, which are combined with coil springs at the front and rear.

The Raptor can already be ordered for the basic price of CZK 1,823,310, for which, of course, you will receive a complete model. You can only pay extra for the electric hull cover, metallic paint, protective hull tub and decorative stickers. Seventeen-inch wheels with BF Goodrich off-road tires are also standard. The car offers acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.1 seconds and consumption of 13.8 liters per 100 km. The Raptor with a two-liter diesel engine and 205 horsepower will arrive on the market next year.

As part of the premiere, Ford also provided further details on the standard Ranger model. Including the Raptor, it offers 7 different variants ascending from XL through XLT to the Limited version, the off-road special Tremor, the traditionally popular Wildtrak and the most luxurious Platinum, which is a novelty for this model.

The basis of the engines will be a diesel two-liter four-cylinder with an output of 170 hp and the top three-liter diesel six-cylinder with an output of 240 hp. Despite the same basics with the Volkswagen Amarok, however, its six-cylinder will be different.
