The concert is organized by Mazmežotne manor in cooperation with “Picture Office”. As promised by the organizers, the concert will be a meeting of music, conversations and revelations.
In music, the two artists met 30 years ago – performing at the music and art festival “Pictures 92” in the White Hall of Riga Castle. At that time, they performed “evergreens” (evergreens) – always green melodies. As these tunes are still as popular as they were 30, 50 or 80 years ago, well-known musicians Aivars Hermanis a Laimis Rācenājs have agreed to restore the duo to rejoice to play you melodies, which have become the standard in jazz music around the world.
The concert will feature R. Rogers, J. Gershwin, AK Žobima, H. Arlena, P. McCartney, J. Songs by Lennon, R. Paul and others, such as “Girl From Ipanema”, “Summertime”, “Autumn Leaves”, “Michelle”, “Rosary”, etc. Most of them were written between 1920 and 1970.
“These songs are written so masterfully that they can be adapted to any tempo and music genre. Many music critics have long included them in the gold fund and cultural canon of music, calling them classics and believing that we will not expect similar masterpieces,” the organizers wrote.
Laimis Rācenājs graduated from G. Ots College of Music in Tallinn, but has studied a lot and still does so, because he is convinced that the quality and content of the performance is determined not only by musical experience, but by existential experience in general. Perhaps this fact explains the singer’s desire to try himself in different genres, styles and compositions, although Laimis considers himself a jazz singer.
He has performed with almost all the most prominent jazz musicians in Latvia and Estonia. The singer has had significant concerts and musical projects with the Estonian Radio Choir, Latvian Radio Choir, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, Latvian Radio Big Band, “Time After Time”, “Mirage Jazz Orchestra”, Raimonds Pauls, etc.
Laimis Rācenājs has been a soloist and participant in the groups “Zvaigznīte”, “Līvi”, “Harmony 4 Riga” (Latvia), “Barbershop Quartet” (Estonia), etc., in the musical projects “Viva La Bomba”, “Besame mucho songs with chili”, “Ballads about wine, love and witches”, etc. Participated in TV shows and performed in more than 20 countries.
Aivars Hermanis has been repeatedly recognized as the best guitarist in Latvia in various polls. He has participated in more than 1,000 recordings of compositions and performed in countless concerts around the world. His composer’s account includes more than 100 songs and instrumental compositions. As a professional musician, guitarist Aivars Hermanis has played in the groups “Souvenir”, “Tip-Top”, “Modo”, “Opus”, “Remix”, R. Paul Ensemble, Latvian Television and Radio Orchestra, G. Rozenberg’s Big Band, “Stabu Street” jazz “orchestra, Laima Vaikule ‘s group and many other musical groups. Aivars still plays in various jazz and popular music projects.
