While European hatchback C3 remains the oldest representative of the segment within the Stellantis group and the successor around the corner probably does not wait even after five years, outside the so-called old continent there is a complete novelty with the same name.

The new C3 for South America is one of the key models in the company’s recent history within Citroën, although it may not seem so at first glance. The reason is simple. The company announced that as part of the necessary increase in sales, it must break into the most emerging markets, which are South America, and therefore other countries.

In the middle of this decade, Citroën intends to sell up to 30 percent of its total production outside Europe, which is the first to help the new C3. It was specially designed for South American roads because it is taller and more robust, due to the number of unpaved roads. The car is more like that European C3 Aircross.

The car has retained similar dimensions as in Europe, but the key is the fact that the length fit under 4 meters. This suggests that in the future it may also apply to India, where a lower tax rate will apply to it. The car has a ground clearance of a decent 180 millimeters and larger wheels. The new C3 is then the first of Citroën’s three key models to be introduced outside Europe.

Citroën has been part of Stellantis’ portfolio since last year, which already has a total of 14 models in South America. The new C3 will complement this fleet with the fact that it should be among the best-selling models, mainly due to its compactness.
