The new Chevrolet Aveo sedan debuted in Mexico

Known to us Chevrolet Aveo Korean development it’s already history: the production of those machines was stopped in 2020 and the heir never appeared. Now the Aveo name is preserved only in Mexico – it belongs there a simple sedan made in China, known at home as Chevrolet Sail. However, a new stage of evolution is ahead – it was in Mexico that the new Chevrolet Aveo debuted. No longer a sedan, but a sedan.

Neither the American nor the Korean division of GM has anything to do with this car. Aveo new generation is the development of the Chinese joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling, previously known only under the code 310C. Moreover, in the domestic market, the same car will be sold under the local brand Wuling – such a sedan has already been shown in certification pictures, although there has not been a presentation yet. The first night’s right went to Mexico, producing export cars at a Chinese factory Start come back in August.

In general, the Mexican division of Chevrolet has long and firmly stuck to cars of Chinese origin and production. In addition to the aforementioned Aveo-sedan, there are cars in the local lineup Onyx And Knightas well as crossovers Locator, Groove And Captive, with the latter two originally developed under the Baojun brand. So the new Aveo sedan did not make a revolution.

There is still very little information about the Aveo and no photos of the interior have been published. The Chevrolet cross-throttle looks organic on this five-door, although in general the appearance is made in the style of the latest Wuling models – crossovers xingchen And Xingchi. The sedan has a simple chassis with semi-independent rear suspension, all-round disc brakes and 15-inch wheels. The headlights are conventional halogen, LEDs are used only for running lights.

According to Mexican media, the new Aveo will be equipped with a 110 HP 1.5 naturally aspirated engine. The choice will be offered “mechanical” and “automatic”. From the equipment, six airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors have already been announced. That is, the Chevrolet Aveo should be inexpensive.

A full premiere is expected in the first half of 2023. After the sedan, a hatchback will also appear – it has already been shown in patent pictures, and right away with Chevrolet emblems.
