The new, cheap little Skoda is supposed to be a sales sensation. Its world premiere is approaching – Garáž.cz

In recent years, Škoda has built two models specifically for the Indian market – Kushaq crossover and Slavia sedan. In the future, the third brother and the youngest sister will join them. It is called Škoda Kylaq and it will be a crossover with a length of up to four meters. Cars of this size make up over thirty percent of what was sold on the local market.

Notably, the Kylaq has a length of 3,995 mm and a wheelbase of 2,566 mm. In addition to the compact floor plan, which will be useful in the narrow streets of cities, it also attracts a ground clearance of 189 millimeters, which drivers will appreciate on several unprepared sections of Indian roads.

So far, Škoda has only revealed the car in foil camouflage, but its proportions are already very easy to read from the first pictures. Like Slavia and Kushaq, the novel is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which corresponds to the internal technology. The Kylaq is powered by a three-cylinder liter engine with 115 horsepower and 178 newton meters of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission.

The patterns on the masking tape are meant to reflect Indian culture.

It is no secret that after China’s less successful campaign, India is becoming a sort of “second China”. The economy continues to grow and more and more residents of the most populous country in the world have the opportunity to buy their first car. Two years ago, Škoda recorded its best sales results in India, and in 2022 and 2023, it sold more than 100,000 cars. At the same time, the brand’s plans are even more ambitious, and Kylaq is supposed to help them come true.

“The world premiere of the Kylaq model is approaching and it’s a special moment for our team. We have maintained good driving dynamics, excellent safety and proven quality. In the frontal impact model, the car has hot-formed steel, thus achieving the highest level of passive safety in its class,” explained Jiří Dytrych, head of product management for cars with an internal combustion engine at Škoda Auto.

Today Škoda makes Kushaq and Slavia exclusively for India.

Skoda wants to be synonymous with safety on Indian roads, so the Kylaq already has six airbags. However, comfort elements have not been forgotten, such as ventilated seats that can be adjusted in six directions, which is an innovation in the given segment.

The Kylaq is the first Indian Skoda to carry elements of the Modern Solid design language. The final scene and all other details will be released on November 6, when the world premiere is scheduled.
