The origins of cafe berlin they are all a mystery. There are characters of the night who have a thousand anecdotes to tell about the matter, but none agree on the exact date of the inauguration of the room that for more than two decades was located on Jacometrezo street. Ten years ago Andrés ‘Pato’ Almada and Leandro Cersosimo took over the reins of a club which, at that time, and with one concert a day, was already known as a meeting point for those seeking to enjoy quality music live, especially jazz and flamenco. In this time, the Café Berlín has changed its location (Cost.ª de los Ángeles, 20) and has multiplied its offer, offering more than forty events a month, with top-quality shows and multiple musical genres that include concerts of national and international artists and the best DJ sessions in its disco format, the BerlinClub, which opens its doors from Thursday to Saturday after the performance at 10:30 p.m.
Of all its festivals and cycles, the Flamenco Club Festival stands out with special importance, which this year will celebrate its fifth edition, and which has established itself as one of the essentials on the national scene of flamenco festivals, with a spectacular final installment in which You could enjoy Duquende, Jorge Pardo, Josemi Carmona or Remedios Amaya, among others. A wide variety of genres has been incorporated into two essentials of Berlin such as jazz and flamenco, making its programming the most extensive and varied of the venues with live music in Madrid. Soul, salsa, blues, Cuban music, indie music, folklore, world music or urban music enrich a palette full of color.
“We are happy because the family grows. The team has expanded, the public is becoming more numerous, as well as eclectic, faithful and enthusiastic, and the artists who come establish such a relationship with the magic that they contribute to creating that they always want to return, “say those responsible. «For this reason, some of them have become regulars at Café Berlín: Pepe Habichuela, Josemi Carmona, Alain Pérez, Diego Guerrero, Nacho Mastretta, Marina Sorin, Package, Caramelo de Cuba, Depedro, Javier Colina, Jorge Pardo… Thank you all for being part of the Berlin family. And, of course, to our team and our audience. Without these three legs we could not walk.
These ten years of Berlin deserve to be celebrated in style. For this reason, the room has turned each of the remaining ten months of 2022 into a special celebration of each of the ten years of Café Berlin’s life. “We are especially excited to share the luxury programming that we have developed,” say those responsible. In March the guests will be Patax, Pepe Habichuela, – Entre Tres (Josemi Carmona, Package and Piraña), Mastretta, Immanuel Wilkins, Caramelo De Cuba and Daniel Melingo; in April, La Banda De Juan Perro, Monophonics, Alfredo Rodríguez Trío, Little Charlie Baty and Kenny Garrett will take over; and in May the protagonists will be Anavitoria, Diego El Twanguero, Javier Vercher Trio Ft. Lionel Loueke & Ra Kalam Bob Moses and Lisandro Aristimuño. The schedule for the rest of the year will be announced shortly.
