Plamen Tonchev, the proposed chairman of DANS, has been the head of the agency in Vratsa for many years. He has held the post for 11 years. Before that, he was the head of the local unit of GDBOP. Under his leadership, the anti-mafia broke up the criminal group of Yordan Tonov-Dancho Prucha for drugs, pimping and extortion, which for years harassed Northwestern Bulgaria. Then Prucha and the participants were in prison. Then he was awarded by Mihail Mikov as Minister of the Interior. As the head of the DANS in the Tonchev district, he has once again been successful in the fight against drug distribution. He also participated in the removal of 110 tons of carbon disulfide from the “Khimko” site, broke a corruption scheme of the local traffic police.
In April 2020, Tonchev was transferred to the territorial director of DANS in Kyustendil, and Dimitrina Taralanska was appointed in his place in Vratsa.
The government proposed to President Radev to release the previous chairman of DANS, Dimitar Georgiev, by decree.
