Limousine (and derivative station wagon) Mazda6 has been an integral part of the Japanese brand offering for many years. And there was no doubt that it would continue, because it was for the next “six” that Mazda designed a completely new platform with rear-wheel drive and the option of six-cylinder engines.

But in the end, everything was different. Mazda decided that the architecture would primarily serve a large SUV (CX-60 a CX-80), which just sells better. And the Mazda 6? Farewell to the European market with the beautiful 20th Anniversary edition, which celebrated twenty years of this car’s presence on the market.

But as it now turns out, that was not the end. Mazda unveiled the EZ-6 electric limousine at the Beijing Auto Show in April, a first for the Chinese market. As a result of the newly formed agreement, however, there have been organizational changes here as well, and the electric car will not only be a Chinese model, but a global model.

In practice, this means that the Mazda EZ-6 will appear soon in Europe, and it is expected to be sold on the Czech market as well. Whether it will carry the famous name Mazda 6 and look exactly like its Chinese equivalent, we do not know yet. However, we should learn the details soon, the first European tour of the modern “six” should take place before the end of this year.

The Chinese Mazda EZ-6 has a length of more than 4.9 meters and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm until now it was introduced only as a limousine on the local market, the arrival of a station car is in the stars. From the outside, it is a kind of evolution of the current “six”, but inside there have been significant changes, including the reduction of physical buttons and the concentration of everything in touch screens. We think Mazda is struggling…

The novel will compete with models such as Tesla Model 3 or BMW i4 in European markets. And if it can be priced reasonably, it could be an interesting promotion for the Japanese manufacturer.
